Watercolors is a challenging yet very rewarding medium. The focus of this fun class is to quickly become comfortable and courageous using this versatile medium by trying numerous painting techniques. It’s not mandatory but it’s useful if you already have some three-dimensional drawing skills or you have taken our Introduction to Drawing class before you start to paint. In this progressive session we initially focus on your watercolor supplies, introduce basic brush stroke techniques and then increase our skillsets each week. Learn about brushes, different paints, paper and more. Learn why we paint light to dark. Work in a monochrome palette before we transition to multi colors. Learn how to paint wet into wet, wet into dry, glazing and dry brushing techniques. And learn how to simplify your compositions by showcasing shadow and light.
When Watercolor Fundamentals concludes you’ll be ready to paint a simplistic version of anything you want, from still lives, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, people and animals in a variety of painterly techniques. And you’ll be ready to sign up for Watercolor Next Level. We hope you join us!
